In the summer issue of Cupcake Heaven we featured an article on Breast Cancer Care’s plan to raise money for its worthy cause by getting the public to get baking and hold their own Strawberry Tea between 1 June – 31 August. The Strawberry Tea bake sale can be held anywhere – at home, at work, or if you want to go large you could hire a local hall – the important thing being that you sell some delicious cakes to raise as much as possible for Breast Cancer Care.
We were so inspired by the idea that the Food Heaven team decided to hold our own Strawberry Tea, which took place on Wednesday 19th June. Over the last few weeks we’ve managed to rope lots of different colleagues into putting their baking skills to the test to contribute to the bake sale. We were delighted with the results, which included everything from strawberry cupcakes to brownies, parkin and even some gluten-free mini cakes made using Honeybun’s new gluten-free cake mix.
We put the word out with the help of the Strawberry Tea fundraising pack and several other businesses in the area popped by to pick up a lunchtime treat and gave very generously. Once the last cake was sold we counted up the money and had raised almost £125.00.
If you’re interested in joining us by holding your very own Strawberry Tea, you can find out more information over on the Strawberry Tea website. It really doesn’t matter how much you raise as every penny counts towards helping this charity to support existing and future breast cancer sufferers and funding important research. Good luck, and have fun baking!
