Edible lace gives stunning results and is surprisingly simple to make.
Make your edible lace as per the instructions found on the pot – we love working with Claire Bowman Cake lace.
Add some of the cake lace to your lace mat, ready to spread over the desired pattern.
Using your cake lace knife, gently spread the cake lace over the design on your mat. Continue to do so until you have completely covered the pattern, making sure there is no excess on top.
Pop your lace mat in the oven and bake as per the instructions found on the pot. If your lace comes out a bit sticky, put it back in for 2 minute intervals.
Allow the cake lace to cool before removing it from your mat.
To remove the cake lace, turn your lace mat over and begin to peel it back, using your cake lace knife to gently tease the lace away from the mat.
Edible lace looks gorgeous on celebration cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and edible plaques. Simply use water to stick your lace design onto your chosen bake, and voila, you have yourself a beautiful design.
