Apple sausage roll
Ingredients
For the filling
- 500 g sausage meat
- 50 g onion, peeled, finely chopped, gently fried until translucent
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed and gently fried with the onion
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 1 Jazz™ Apple, diced into small chunks
- a good pinch of salt
- 2 free-range eggs
For the pastry
- 300 g puff pastry
- 1 free-range egg, beaten
- butter, for greasing
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200C/Gas Mark 6. Grease a baking tray.

Place all the filling ingredients into a bowl and mix together.

Roll out the puff pastry in front of you vertically. Leave an overlap on the right-hand side, then layer out the mixture in a line from top to bottom. Brush a line of egg wash alongside the mixture on the inside to work as an adhesive.

Roll over tightly, connecting the overlap with the line of egg wash. To secure, give it an old-fashioned crimp. Brush with egg wash, then place on the prepared tray.

Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 170C/Gas Mark 3 and bake for another 10 minutes. Slice and serve however you like.
