This spooky sky looks more complicated to do than it is, and will certainly impress your Halloween guests!

Cover dummy and board with white sugarpaste. I stuck the dummy to the board first with a glue gun but for a real cake, you would use buttercream or ganache. As the ribbon is black it can be added at the outset, for any other colour ribbon, leave as a finishing touch. |

Using your airbrush, paint your cake and board very lightly with orange. Try and make it darker at the top. |

Using some paper, cut out some mountain like curves and secure to your cake with a little ball of sugarpaste. |

Using your airbrush, paint along the line where paper meets the cake, making it darker on the bottom and fading out as it goes upwards towards the sky. |

Roll out black sugarpaste and using the paper as a guide, cut out the mountains in black and stick on overlapping to give an effect of distance. After this spray the cake board black. |

For the final touch, the trees on the side of the cake are painted on. Using a very thin brush (I used 01) and some edible black paint. Practice on paper first. |

Once you are happy with how your trees are looking, you can paint directly on the cake. Slowly build them up and scatter them over the hills. |
