Nermen Sayed first started her journey in cake decorating around four years ago and hasn't looked back

Nermen Sayed owner of Nana Rose Cake will be working in collaboration with co-Admin Heba M Elalfy owner of Sweet Dreams by Heba to produce a Spring Fairy Tale sugar collaboration.

Dubai based, Nermen Sayed, is a self-taught cake decorator with her own business. She learnt most of what she now knows by watching video tutorials on You Tube. Her skills developed over the years and she eventually began searching for schools to teach cake decorating on a regular basis. Renowned cake designers were teaching classes locally and Nermen eventually found herself taking classes to further improve her skills. Nermen's cakes incorporate her artistic flare but she explained that these skills didn't come without hard work, it was through continuous training and practice that she excelled. The cakes are a classical style, the majority of time Nermen makes wedding cakes, sugarpaste roses and does plenty of modeling. She explained that modeling can be tough when you're new to it but each time you make a mistake you gain new skills and move forward in a better position, more equipped for a client request.

I'm inspired by nature, graphics, paintings and colours

Here are a few of Sayed's top tips for sugar paste modelling and cake decorating:
  1. Make sure you sketch out your idea – by doing this you'll know what direction you want your creation to take rather than letting any mistakes dictate what the outcome is.
  2. For the first few cakes stick to the same format, the practice is worth it.
  3. Finally, choose the right sugar paste for what you are doing – research!
