10 Minutes with Selasi Gbormittah

When did you first discover a love for baking?
It was at university so sometime around 2005/2008. Haven't looked back since. Love it!
How do you balance work life and baking?
I find baking relaxing so I don't see that as a major challenge. Easy peasy ha!
Do you enjoy baking as much as your motor bike tours?
That's a tough one as they both give completely different levels of satisfaction. I grin 24/7 when doing both.
Is baking a hobby you’ve enjoyed throughout your life?
It's a great hobby and I think and it brings people together. Since I began I have enjoyed it wholeheartedly.
Who or what has influenced your baking the most?
Hmm that a tough one. I owe it to my best friend I suppose. She baked at uni so I learnt from her and that's where my baking began.
What made you want to enter the Great British Bake Off?
On the back of comments from friends, family and colleagues. Best decision yet!
What was your favourite challenge each week, the signature, technical or showstopper?
Showstopper and signature as this was our chance to be different.
How did it feel get so far in the competition?
I was really happy and proud although I didn't think I'd get that far. There was sometimes self doubt I thought, which happens to anyone I suppose.
Who did you find easiest to please Mary or Paul?
Neither. I loved their feedback as I found all to be constructive.
What’s your plan now that you have conquered the Bake Off?
Watch this space...
If you could bake one recipe for the rest of your life - what would it be?
Cake cake cake, the simpler the better.
