Is there another controversy before the gingham alter? With the final looming, Bake Off passion is at fever pitch - and while that does bring a whole lot of excitement, there is an unfortunate side effect of negativity too. This season is no exception, with Rahul now coming under fire for cheating during the technical challenge. Some viewers are accusing him of spending more time on his seven-layered torta setteveli cake than the others, as he's filmed adding decorations while walking up to present his cake on the gingham alter. This isn't the first time that bakers have been accused of spending more time on a bake than was strictly allowed (remember Manon and not removing her acetate before presenting a barely set bake to the judges earlier in the series?), but after many are already frustrated with the decision to keep Rahul in after a dreadful Danish week, it's fair to say he's an easy target at present. The outcry about it on Twitter is real, and #Rahul was trending on Twitter after The Great British Bake Off had finished on Tuesday evening.
#GBBO So Rahul bent the rules 1-2 times as many on Twitter has indicated. STOP calling him a #cheat - shld not take it out on #Rahul. They hv been baking for 5 hours. There's stress nervousness frustrations. If he did bend the rules its up 2 #GBBO to penalised him. Dont blame him— FJF (@fjfjaq) October 24, 2018
Excuse me, but did Rahul just keep working on his technical after they called time?? You can't add decorations on your way to the table, wtf. #GBBO— Tal (@iseemagpies) October 24, 2018
Rahul has been amazing all the time and this was literally the first time he slipped up. Manon has been in the bottom half for ages. Wouldn't have been fair to throw Rahul out when he was always on point during any other week. #GBBO #rahul— Mara (@SmoothieM123) October 16, 2018
