“Baking in Space will further ignite people’s curiosity about space. Whilst whisking, stirring and whipping up a storm in their kitchens, they can learn even more about the world of science! Packed with live demos, baking, facts about space, scientists, engineering (both aerospace and food) and activities for all the family to enjoy at home – it’s one not to be missed!”Dr. Niamh Shaw said,
“The pandemic restrictions have reawakened a passion for baking in many of us – particularly for banana bread! Covid-19 has also piqued people’s interest in science and raised awareness of the importance of scientific study and being curious about how our world works. Join us as we explore our planet in lockdown, how we have learned to adapt and the parallels between living in space and living during the pandemic.”Mags Walsh, Director, British Council Ireland, said
“At The British Council in Ireland we are so pleased to be able to work with Andrew and Dr Niamh again to bring Baking in Space to homes across the UK and Ireland. Andrew and Niamh’s innovative approach to blending baking, engineering and space is for anyone who is even the tiniest bit curious about science. We are especially delighted that Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut, will join the webcast this year and share her experience of life and food in space.”‘Baking in Space’ is supported by Yakult. Yakult’s Managing Director Hiroaki Yoshimura commented,
“Yakult’s mission on the International Space Station (ISS) is to study the influence of Yakult’s bacteria on the human body in outer space. Using freeze-dried live bacteria in capsules, crew members of the ISS are consuming Yakult’s L.casei Shirota to provide the answers!”[caption id="attachment_28137" align="alignnone" width="600"]
