It's here, the Royal Wedding celebration cake that you've been waiting for - even if you didn't know it. A life-size Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cake.
Created by cake artist Lara Mason, the cake was commissioned by the world’s largest cake decorating show, Cake International as this year’s “Official Cake International Feature”.The sculpture - aside from its supports - is entirely edible, and took over 250 hours to create over the past six weeks! Though, as it's being displayed at Cake International in November, we think the cake itself might be a smidge past it's best-by date.
Hypothetically able to feed over 500 people, the cake has been made using 300 eggs, 15kg of flour, 15kg of butter and 15 kg of sugar. Over 10kg of buttercream was used to sandwich the layers together and to decorate, around 20kg of modelling chocolate and roughly 50kg of fondant icing has been used.
Created to celebrate tomorrow's Royal Wedding, artist Lara also hopes that the finished piece can be used to encourage others to take up the hobby of sugarcraft.
Cake International will be at the NEC in Birmingham from the 2nd - 4th of November 2018.
