Do you know your self-raising from your semolina? Then Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has just the task for you. The world famous animal charity is asking supporters to roll up their sleeves, put on their aprons, dust off their baking trays and host a fundraising Tea Party on 27 May to raise vital funds. Hosting a Tea Party for Battersea is easy – you can sign up through Battersea’s website and receive a free information pack giving you all the ideas and inspiration you need for your event. Whether you are a dedicated dog person or a fan of all things feline, you can choose a themed Tea Party pack that best suits you. The Tea Party is the perfect chance to catch up with friends and family and show off your baked delights in return for a donation, with all of the proceeds helping lost and abandoned animals at Battersea. Natalie Wood, Battersea’s Community Fundraising Manager said, “Battersea relies on donations from the public so we can continue our vital work. Hosting a Tea Party is a great way to bring people together for a wonderful cause, whether at home or at work. All of the money raised will help us to care for thousands of homeless animals, giving them the love and attention they need to start a new life”. It costs £40,000 a day to run all three Battersea centres in London, Old Windsor and Brands Hatch, although the charity receives no government funding and relies solely on generous donations from the public. Every pound raised from the Tea Party goes towards caring for the 8,000 dogs and cats Battersea cares for each year.
