School of Artisan Food to host 'baking bootcamp' for aspiring professionals

The School of Artisan Food’s four-week 'baking bootcamp' begins this month, offering aspiring professional bakers advice, inspiration and troubleshooting.

The course, officially named ‘Professional Baking Skills with Wayne Caddy’, runs once every year. It is led by the school’s own Head of Baking. Wayne Caddy is an award-winning baker and member of the Elite Club of Artisanal Bakery. He developed the bootcamp to launch the careers of aspiring professionals. Over four weeks, participants learn to plan production, analyse faults and master a range of bread baking techniques. The practical nature of the course allows them to refine their skills, with realistic feedback preparing them for careers in the industry.

Previous participants have gone on to win prestigious awards and even open their own bakeries.

Ian Hill, student of the course turned microbakery owner, said: ‘I’m receiving more orders than I could have ever imagined. It is always immensely rewarding to receive good feedback on my breads and that is down to the quality of Wayne’s teaching.’ Examples of bread baked on the course This year’s 'baking bootcamp' will run from 30th July to 23rd August. It will be held at the Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire.
