Each year, Häagen-Dazs collaborates with a world-renowned artist to create a spectacular ice-cream cake for the festive season.
This year, for the ninth edition, Häagen-Dazs was thrilled to work with one of the most respected and inspiring designers of his time: Jaime Hayon. Hayon is recognized and celebrated internationally – just this year, he has won the Designer of the Year award in the Elle Deco International Design Awards 2016 and was honoured with three different awards in the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards 2016.
For his take on Häagen-Dazs’ gâteau glacé, Jaime Hayon dreamt up two magical characters, both filled with originality and fantasy. The Spanish designer drew directly from his experience of the world of show business to create these two gourmet creatures, which are as charming as they are delicious.
The two versions of this ice cream cake are as inventive as each other. The white cake is composed of a crunchy Speculoos biscuit base, Salted Caramel and Vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce, roasted almonds and hazelnut praline. The purple creation is made up of a an almond and orange blossom biscuit base, a delicate blend of the Almond Panna Cotta and Honey Walnut & Cream ice creams, salted caramel sauce, roasted almonds and an exotic coulis centre.
