Have your own Royal Wedding cake… and eat it!It’s been long-confirmed that the wedding cake will offer guests something a little different this wedding. Combining lemon sponge with delicate elderflower flavours in a silky buttercream, the cake is then said to be decorated with fresh florals for a truly elegant look. Our friends at Tala have created a spectacular version of what they think the Royal Wedding cake – set to be created by London-based pastry chef Claire Ptak – might well look like. You can see Tala’s tutorial here. Cutting it close for time now? Don’t worry – hop over to Morrisons and you might be able to find your own lemon and elderflower cake, finished with flowers. Though we think the Royal Wedding cake itself might be a little grander, at £7, this easy at-home option can still give you a taste of the big day.
Get your own baking to a royal standardThere are very few real-life events that touch on the ideal of a fairytale quite like a Royal Wedding. Create your own whimsical happily-ever-after bakes with these fairytale motifs, tiara cutters and the princess carriage from our friends at FMM Sugarcraft – all perfect touches to any Royal Wedding viewing party snack table. It’s not all about the decoration when it comes to baking treats for princes and princesses. Let’s face it, if you’re anything like us, it could well be time for you to get your oven properly cleaned. As an incentive, our friends at Ovenclean are giving all those that get in touch regarding a cleaning enquiry between May 14th and 19th an entry into a prize draw to win one of three cookbooks. This isn’t just any cookbook though – this is the Violet Bakery Cookbook – penned by Claire Ptak herself. Head over to Ovenclean’s website for more information.
Life-size(!) sculptural celebration cakesYes, you read that right. Cake Artist Lara Mason has created a life-size cake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! Commissioned by Cake International, the cake is to be this year’s ‘Official Cake International Feature’. It’s taken over 25 hours to make, and has used over 300 eggs to create – but the good news is that it should feed over 500 people.
We think we've exhausted all cake-related news regarding the Royal Wedding. All that's left to say is, enjoy the event if you're watching!
