A moreish Autumn bake, this sweet loaf is packed with apples and is also gluten-free!

1Grease and line a 1kg (2lb) loaf tin and pre-heat your oven to 160C/140C fan/gas mark3 |
2Cream the butter or margarine with the sugar until pale and fluffy. |
3Add the eggs and beat again. Do not worry if the mixture separates. |
4Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir well. |
5Add the dry ingredients and milk to the wet ingredients, and beat to combine. |
6Finally stir through the apple pieces. |
7Scoop the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and bake in the oven for 50 - 60 minutes until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. |
8Allow to cool before scattering the top of the cake with more light brown sugar |
