Hold a bake sale this October for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and raise some vital dough to help children just like Ava.

Ava, aged 7, was born with cerebro-costo-mandibular syndrome, a condition where she has no ribs on the front half of her body. Ava is a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital and is supporting Bake it Better week in October by hoding a bake sale.  These Chocolate Muffins are Ava’s favourite. Ava Baking Chocolate Muffins

Ava's Chocolate Muffins

Ingredients
  • 125g Plain Flour
  • 25g Coco Powder
  • 1tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 60g Sugar
  • 2tbsp Oil
  • 100ml Milk
Chocolate Buttons: Optional
Ava Baking Chocolate MuffinsMethod
  1. Preheat the oven to 160C sieve the bowl ingredients into the bowl
  2. Mix the egg, milk, oil and sugar together in the jug
  3. Pour the egg mixture into the bowl (add chocolate chips now to make double chocolate muffins) and mix until combined
  4. Spoon mixture into muffin or cake cases and cook for 20 minutes at 160C until set and cracked at the top
  5. Whilst cooking make up some icing (optional) by adding the water to the icing sugar slowly and bit by bit until the consistency of golden syrup add more icing sugar or water if needed
  6. Once the muffins are out of the oven leave them to stand for 5 minutes and ENJOY!
