Cheese and pecan Palmiers

Flaky, crunchy, cheesy and delicious, these cheese and pecan palmiers are a moreish treat that any savoury bake-lover will adore! Take a look at the super-simple recipe from the Dairy Diary 2019 below, and get baking!

Ingredients

  • 75 g Cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 25 g pecan nuts (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 320 g pack puff pastry sheet
  • 1 medium egg

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas Mark 6. Grease a baking sheet.

Mix together the cheese, nuts, paprika and cayenne pepper. Brush the pastry sheet with egg, then sprinkle with the cheese mixture. Starting from the long side, roll one side into the centre. Repeat with the other side until the pastry rolls meet in middle. Cut across into 12 slices.

Place the slices, cut-side down, onto the baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes until crisp and golden. Cool on a wire rack.
