Win a space on a course at Squires Kitchen

Want to learn some new skills this year? Head along to Squires Kitchen International School – and this month two lucky readers will win a place on a course this spring!

Squires Kitchen International School in Farnham offers a range of courses for everyone from beginners to the more experienced, and this issue they’re offering two lucky winners the chance to win a place on one of their courses.

The first prize winner will win a place on the Key Skills: Sugar Flowers course on 27-28 March. Whether you’re a beginner or want to perfect your burgeoning flower-making skills, there is plenty to learn and enjoy on this creative and inspiring course. Over two days, learn how to create wired roses, sweet peas, delicate filler flowers and foliage to create a beautiful, colourful posy.

SK tutor Claire Fitzsimons will take you through the essential tools and equipment needed for making sugar flowers. She will also teach you the techniques and processes required to create realistic wired flowers, pulled flowers and foliage. This course is worth £290.

The second prize winner will win a place on the Key Skills: Celebration Cakes course on 7th April. If you’d like to learn the skills needed to cover celebration cakes to a professional finish with sugarpaste, this is an essential course for you. On this one-day course, sugarcraft expert tutor Linda Garnham will teach you how to cover a 6in round fruit cake and board with both marzipan and sugarpaste to a professional standard. She will show you how to make beautiful hand-modelled sugarpaste roses to decorate your cake – you can make as many as you like on the day and carry on the technique at home to make more if needed. Claire will also explain how to get to grips with the various sugarcraft tools and techniques used to create clever fabric and textured effects. This course is worth £150.
