S'mores are the perfect dessert for a summer night and you can totally impress everyone with these top tips on how to get them just right, go the extra mile and make homemade mallows!
1. Don't forget to use a long stick to keep your cool
Fires get hot! Ok, that's obvious but easy to forget when your grilling a marshmallow. Grill or campfire, either way try and stay at a good distance. By using a long stick it allow you to keep cool. Maybe even double up your skewer and rotate your marshmallow constantly over the fire so to toast it evenly.
2. Try cooking them in wafer cones
Mix it up completely and use some wafer cones! Pack them with chocolate chunks, marshmallows, peanut butter, bananas or any other fruit — whatever you fancy. After that, wrap them in foil, and place them over hot coals, rotating every so often for around 5-10 minutes. The result will be a gooey, gooey delish treat you can eat just like an cornetto!
3. Select the right chocolate
Don't skimp on the chocolate, soft, creamy milk chocolate is a good option. However if you are going for more of a mature, grown up s'mores party try dark chocolate like Green and Blacks Organic, you want something with higher content of cocoa than most chocolate. It will give it the same silkiness as milk chocolate without the sweetness.
4. The cookies are very important
Graham crackers work really well in a s'mores if they have a slight sweetness to them! Shortbread is also a good option as it isn't too sweet but very sturdy and chunky with that added buttery flavour! Yum!
5. Try homemade!
If you are in a rush or are having a spontaneous s'mores party, shop bought supplies are fine but when planning out in advance you why not try your hand at homemade treats? Here is how you can make your own marshmallows
or your own graham cracker cookies.
